UUQual

About UQual

Global university rankings measure research output, academic reputation and citations — things that matter to academics, but say very little about the day-to-day experience of being a student. UQual exists to answer a simpler, more personal question: how good is this institution at serving its students?

UQual (short for University Quality) is an independent initiative that surveys students across Malaysia about their satisfaction with the quality of services provided by their higher education institutions — teaching, facilities, support services, administration, campus life and value for money. The results are published openly at uqual.net as rankings within each institutional category.

Malaysia has one of Southeast Asia's most diverse higher education landscapes: 20 public universities, more than 50 private universities and university colleges, world-class foreign branch campuses, and an extensive polytechnic and community college network. Yet students choosing between them have had no independent, student-centred measure of service quality — until now.

Our principles

Student-first

Only current students and recent graduates can rate an institution. No expert panels, no reputation surveys.

Transparent

Methodology, sample sizes and dimension scores are published with every ranking.

Independent

No institution funds UQual, and rank positions can never be bought or edited.
